DESCRIPTION Quadruple Ointment is an anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, antifungal, and antibacterial that treats a number of cutaneous disorders in cats or dogs. It treats the condition and the symptoms simultaneously, and it reduces the inflammation and itching caused by bacterial or fungal infections.

How is Medication Given?
To treat cystic areas, infected anal glands, and similar conditions, drain the cyst or gland and fill with ointment. To treat other dermatological conditions, cleanse affected area(s) to remove all encrusted exudates and discharge. Apply a thin layer of ointment. To treat otitis, cleanse the ear canal(s) to remove any impacted cerumen. Inspect the ears thoroughly and remove any foreign material, including ticks, grass awns, etc. Treat by instilling 3 to 5 drops of ointment. Pre-treatment with local anesthetic may also be beneficial. To protect yourself, wear gloves while administering this ointment or cleanse your hands right after use. To treat a severe condition, apply ointment 2 to 3 times daily, as needed, decreasing frequency as the condition improves. To treat mild inflammation, apply once or twice weekly. Administration frequency should be based upon the condition's severity.

Dose and Administration: Sold in a tube containing 7.5, 15, or 30 mL.
Possible Side Effects: Parenteral or systemic corticosteroid use can cause side effects, including:
Temporary hearing loss (when used for otitis treatment) Cushing's syndrome (with prolonged or repeated use) Elevated SAP and ALT (SGPT) enzymes Polydipsia and polyuria Vomiting Diarrhea (sometimes bloody)
Signs usually disappear after discontinuing treatment. Withdraw use if you believe your pet is experiencing hearing dysfunction.
Precautions:
Keep this and any other medication away from children. Never ingest. Based uponthe type of steroid, the dosage rate, and the treatment duration, oral or parenteral use of corticosteroids can cause decreased production of endogenous steroids following medication withdrawal. Do not use to treat a serious burn, deep wound, or puncture wound. Animals on this medication could develop sensitivity to neomycin. Withdraw use if you observe ongoing or persistent swelling, irritation, redness, or swelling. If the wound contains pus, infection could spread during application. After topical application, certain systemic effects can occur (in rare cases) due to corticosteroid absorption. Observe your pet for symptoms like polydipsia, polyuria, or weight gain. Rarely, cutaneous reactions have occurred. This medication is generally well-tolerated. Do not use to treat a significant abscess, lymphatic vessel inflammation, or any. other deep-seated infection, as these conditions will require parenteral antibiotics.
Storage Recommendations: Store in a dry and cool environment. Avoid temperatures of 104 degrees F (40 degrees C).
