Pirsue is an antibiotic solution from the lincosamide class. It combats gram-positive bacteria responsible for mastitis infections. Pirlimycin works by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit of bacterial ribonucleic acid, which interferes with the protein synthesis of the bacteria.

How is Medication Given?
Infuse a single syringe into every affected quarter, using proper sanitation and preparation practices for the teat ends, as well as appropriate intramammary infusion techniques. Re-treat every 24 hours for as many as 8 days in a row.
What Results Can I Expect? Pirsue Sterile Solution is the only antibiotic treatment option approved by the FDA to treat lactating dairy cattle for subclinical or clinical mastitis. It treats mastitis caused by Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus dysgalactiae, Streptococcus uberis, or Streptococcus agalactiae.
What Form Does Medication Come In? Syringes
Dose and Administration: Sold in a 12-count box of syringes (0.33 fluid ounces each). Also includes 12 alcohol pads.
Possible Side Effects: Cows undergoing long-term Pirsue treatment can develop new intramammary infections or experience coliform mastitis-related death. In the majority of these cases, the cause of the reaction was lack of aseptic infusion or improper cleaning.
Precautions:
Avoid contact with the eyes or skin. Hands and other exposed skin should be washed immediately after use. Use a large amount of soap and water. In case of eye contact, immediately use water to flush for 15 minutes. Violative residues can result from use inconsistent with the product label. Never slaughter an animal for human consumption within 21 days post-treatment. Milk from the treated animal should not be used for food purposes during treatment or for 48 hours post-treatment. Failure to thoroughly and aseptically clean the quarter throughout treatment can cause resistant pathogen infusion. Even with proper sanitization and preparation of the teat ends, extended and repeated treatment can lead to somatic cell count and clinical mastitis elevations. These conditions are sometimes fatal. If you believe acute clinical mastitis or any other condition may be developing during treatment, discontinue use and pursue emergency treatment. Keep out of reach of children.
Storage Recommendations: Keep product at room temperature between 68-77 degrees F (20-25 degrees C).
