DESCRIPTION Polyflex is a penicillin (ampicillin) suspension made for injection. Its bactericidal action is broad-spectrum, defending against many types of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. How is Medication Given? Follow your veterinarian's directions when using this product. What Results Can I Expect: Polyflex is more effective than Penicillin in treating a broad range of infections. It is a cost-effective alternative to Cephalosporin, and it combats many gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. What Form Does Medication Come In? Injectable Dose and Administration: Sold in a vial containing 200 mL. Possible Side Effects: Allergic reactions are possible with Polyflex use. If you believe the animal use experiencing such a reaction, discontinue treatment and use antihistamines, pressor amines, and/or corticosteroids to treat the animal. Precautions: The milk from a treated cow should not be used for food while taking this medication. Do not use milk for food for 48 hours or 4 milkings after the final treatment. Cows should not be slaughtered for food during treatment, or for 144 hours (6 days) after the final treatment. Never administer for more than 7 consecutive days. 3 days of treatment typically delivers the desired results. However, animals may be treated for 48 to 72 hours after the disappearance of fever or other symptoms. Follow the product label for milk and meat withdrawal. Never administer to an animal with a known allergy to penicillin, cephalosporin, or another similar medication. Storage Recommendations: Store in a dry and cool environment 59- 86 degrees F (15-30 degrees C). When reconstituted, keep refrigerated. In Case of Overdose: Call your closest emergency pet hospital.
