DESCRIPTION: Atropine Sulfate Ophthalmic Solution is an eye solution that relieves pain in the eye(s). It dilates the pupils, which helps reduce eye pain associated with injuries, corneal disease, corneal ulcers, and uveal disease. It is also sometimes prescribed for the treatment of secondary glaucoma. Key Benefits: Atropine affects the parasympathetic nervous system of pets. Liquid Dose and Administration: Sold in a dropper bottle containing 2 or 5 mL. The most common side effect is a decrease in tear production. Precautions: Cats and some dogs do not tolerate this medication well. Usage: Atropine ophthalmic solution should be instilled as directed by your veterinarian. Administer the prescribed dose by pulling down on the bottom lid of your pet's eye and applying the prescribed number of drop(s) of solution directly onto the eye. Be careful to avoid touching the dropper tip to any surface including the eyes or hands, as this may contaminate the sterile surface. Wash hands before and after application. If using with other eye drops or ointments, separate dosing by 5 to 10 minutes. Missed Doses: Give the dose as soon as possible. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose, and continue with the regular schedule. Do not give two doses at once. Side Effects: Side effects may include sensitivity to bright light or sunlight, burning & irritation after application, temporary decrease in tear production, excessive salivation, and possible hypersensitivity.
