DESCRIPTION Gentocin Durafilm Opthalmic Solution is used to relieve inflammation and treat infections of the external eye. It is also sometimes used to manage pigmentary keratitis or pannus. Key Benefits: Gentocin Durafilm Ophthalmic Solution uses Gentamicin Sulfate to treat gram-positive and gram-negative eye infections. It contains Betamethasone Acetate, rapidly-acting anti-inflammatory corticosteroid that relieves the symptoms of traumatic, tissue, bacterial, or allergic resopnses. Finally, it contains Durafilm, an acqueous colloidal solution that coats the conjunctiva to allow the active ingredients to maintain therapeutic contact with the affected area. Liquid Dose and Administration: Sold in a bottle containing 5 mL. Dropper included. Possible Side Effects: Vomiting or diarrhea may occur in some dogs. Prolonged or repeated steroid treatment can cause Cushing's syndrome development. Parenteral or systemic administration of synthetic corticosteroids may cause polydipsia, polyuria, or elevated enzymes. Precautions: Clinical and experimental data have shown that oral or parenteral corticosteroid use in pregnant animals can cause first stage parturition. Using this product during the last trimester of pregnancy can cause dystocia, fetal death, retained placenta, metritis, and premature parturition. Treated pregnant dogs, rabbits, and rodents have produced offspring with birth defects, including foreleg deformities, anasarca, phocomelia, and cleft palate. Only for ocular conditions, and best when used in viral conditions without deep ulceration or vascularization. Do not use corticosteroids to treat corneal ulcers.
