Kittens, like Adult cats, will eat multiple meals per day, so provide daily amount of food divided into smaller meals. Moisten food until just soft for pre - weaning period. Pick up left over food and discard in order to maintain freshness. As kittens get more used to dry food, reduce the amount of water added to the food. Adjust feeding amounts to maintain steady, slow growth and ideal body condition. Amounts will depend on age, activity, environment and temperament. Helping to decrease cat obesity means keeping your kitten at ideal body condition throughout its growth and early Adulthood. Pregnant or Nursing Cat: Adjust feeding amounts in order to maintain ideal body condition. Feed multiple meals per day with daily amounts divided into smaller meals. Pregnant cats can require up to 2 - 3 times their normal Adult maintenance amounts of food. Nursing cats can require up to 4 times their normal Adult maintenance amounts of food, with larger increases happening about 4 weeks after kittens are born and start rapid growth. Get your kitten off to a good start with a first and then regular veterinary visits. Keep fresh water available at all times.
