Description: Dormosedan Gel is indicated for use as a sedative to reduce anxiety and facilitate handling during certain clinical examinations, non-painful clinical procedures, and routine husbandry procedures in adult horses. This medication does not have any analgesic properties. Side Effects: Side effects may include increased sweating, ataxia (unstable uncoordinated movement) salivation, decreased body temperature, decreased respiratory rate, decreased gastric motility, decreased heart rate, increase in urination, increased nasal discharge, slight edema of head area, congestion in mucous membranes. Contact your veterinarian if any of these effects occur and are troubling for your horse. Take proper precautions during sedation and as your horse emerges from the sedating effects of the drug. Note: Although sedated, some horses may still respond to external stimuli with defensive movements (kicking, etc). Â Mild ataxia (stable but slightly swaying) was observed in most cases, although moderate ataxia as observed in a small number of cases.
