If the blade accidentally comes in contact with the quick, use styptic powder, corn starch or powder to stop the bleeding. If bleeding does not stop, take your pet to an emergency room. KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN. For external use only. This is not a toy and should be handled with extreme care. Do not insert an anything except a dog's nail into the QuickFinder®blades. Store the QuickFinder and batteries out of reach of infants, children and pets. Contact your local poison control center or dial 800-222-1222 immediately if you suspect that a battery has been swallowed. Keep out of water. Do not use near water. Avoid using near static electricity or other electronic objects. Directions: Before clipping, examine paws. For the clipper to operate safely and properly, nails should be clean, injury free and dry before proceeding. Turn the clipper on by sliding the power switch to the right. When the unit has self-calibrated (the sensor has readied itself), the YELLOW light will turn off and the RED light will remain on. The QuickFinder is now ready to begin clipping your pet's nails. Hold clipper with the sensor side of the clipper facing the paw. The sensor must face the paw so that the nail will cross over the sensor prior to clipping. DO NOT face the sensor side away from the paw as it will not recognize the quick. With the sensor ready to read the quick, insert the nail tip through the cutting hole from the sensor side. Be sure the nail is positioned toward the sensor and not outward near the far side of the insertion hole, too far away from the sensor. The clipper and sensor are designed to operate correctly when the cutting blades are at a right angle to the nail. Keep the nail at a right angle to the clipper blades throughout the process. The sensor registers blood in the quick, but will also register blood in your pet's paw or in your own finger. It is important to be sure only the quick in your pet's nail is being detected and not the blood from your hand or your pet's paw. Be sure to keep the paw pad and your hand and fingers away from the sensor. With the tip of the nail through the insertion hole, move the clipper toward the paw to the base of the nail. The light will remain RED even after it has detected the quick. Once the QuickFinder has detected the quick at the base of the nail, move the blade back toward tip of nail until the GREEN light illuminates, indicating that you have cleared the quick and it is safe to cut. The YELLOW light may briefly illuminate as the blade and sensor approach the area of the nail near the quick. It is NOT safe to clip when the YELLOW or RED lights are illuminated. When the unit shows a GREEN LIGHT ONLY, hold the nail and clipper in a steady position and squeeze the handles together to trim the nail.
