This should be administered until clinical response is noted, never exceeding 14 days. If response is not seen in 14-days, the case should be re-evaluated. When a satisfactory response is noted, reduce the daily dose gradually until acute conditions are resolved, or until the minimum effective maintenance dosage rate has been determined for the treatment of a chronic condition. When treating a chronic disease (like rheumatoid arthritis), Triamcinolone is a helpful adjunct therapy that should be used with (but not instead of) standard therapies. Adrenal insufficiency symptoms after treatment could continue for many days, weeks, or even years. Sometimes, death has occurred. To prevent adverse reactions to drug withdrawal or dosage reduction, decrease gradually. When administering to dogs, morning dosing could be helpful in reducing effects because of less inhibited nocturnal adrenal and pituitary activity. For chronic conditions, dosage reate should be very slowly reduced when obtaining a maintenance dosage rate. As the disease flucutates or the animal's overall health changes, adjustments will be needed. Do not use in animals with tuberculosis, chronic nephritis, cushingoid syndrome, peptic ulcers, congestive heart failure, diabetes, or osteoporosis unless the case is emergent. Parenteral or oral corticosteroid use can initiate parturition when administered during the final trimester of pregnancy. It can also initiate premature parturition and, in some cases, subsequent metritis, retained placenta, fetal death, and dystocia. This medication inhibits fibroplasia, and it can mask symptoms of infection, increasing the dissemination of infecting organisms. Animals should be monitored for secondary infection. Do not exceed recommended dosage rate. Close veterinarian supervision is indicated. This anti-inflammatory steroid manifests low sodium retention. The most common early indicator of cortisone or hydrocortisone overdose (including increased body weight as a result of fluid retention) is not a reliable diagnostic tool for overdose. Based upon the type of steroid, the dosage rate, and the treatment duration, oral or parenteral use of corticosteroids can cause decreased production of endogenous steroids following medication withdrawal.
