DESCRIPTION Vetropolycin HC Ophthalmic Ointment is a steroidal and triple-antibiotic ointment containing Hydrocortisone, Bacitracin, Neomycin, and Polymyxin. It is effective in treating superficial bacterial eyelid and conjunctiva infections. How is Medication Given? 1) Clean the area to thoroughly. 2) Remove any debris, crusted secretions, and other foreign matter carefully. 3) Apply by covering the cornea with a thin layer 3 to 4 times each day. To do this, insert the tube tip under the bottom lid and apply a tiny amount of ointment directly to the conjunctival sac. What Results Can I Expect? Vetropolycin HC contains 3 antibiotics and one steroid in a single, easy-to-administer ointment. What Form Does Medication Come In? Ointment Dose and Administration: Sold in a tube containing 3.5 ounces. Possible Side Effects: Withdraw treatment if you observe signs of sensitivity, including: Itching Burning Inflammation Precautions: Never use before surgery. Prolonged application can cause non-susceptible organism overgrowth (such as fungi). In this case, the condition will require treatment. Treatment and diagnosis should be re-evaluated if the infection remains unresponsive after 2 to 3 days of treatment.
