DESCRIPTION: Ampicillin is a time-dependent and bactericidal antibiotic that inhibits cell wall synthesis. This medication, and others like it, are especially useful against many types of penicillin-resistant, gram-negative bacteria. This includes Escherichia coli, Klebsiella, and Haemophilus. Bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus and other beta-lactamase producers inactivate those aerobes. They do this by inhibiting the linking of peptidoglycan chains, which are key components in the gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria within a cell. Formulated For: Intended for horses only.
