Sodium Bicarbonate 8.4% 100 ml
DESCRIPTION Sodium Bicarbonate 8.4% is used to treat metabolic acidosis. This condition is the result of excess acid production, and it can have a number of causes. This medication treats many of those causes, and it is safe for use in a variety of animal species. Ask your vet if this medication is the right one for your specific pet. Key Benefits: Sodium Bicarbonate works by increasing the level of plasma bicarbonate in the animal's body. It raises the pH of the blood, and it also alkalizes urine. Formulated For: Intended for dogs, sheep, horses, cattle and swine. How is Medication Given? Like any other sodium bicarbonate solution, this product is hypertonic, which means that it has the capability of producing an unwanted rise in concentrations of plasma sodium while correcting metabolic acidosis conditions. Administer cautiously in cardiac arrest and other emergency situations in which rapid bicarbonate infusion is required. Administer via intravenous injection. What Results Can I Expect: Sodium Bicarbonate is used for the treatment of metabolic acidosis. What Form Does Medication Come In? Injectable Dose and Administration: Sold in a vial containing 100 mL. Possible Side Effects: Do not administer to a vomiting animal who is experiencing chloride loss, or to an animal taking any diuretic which produces hypochloremic acidosis. Precautions: As metabolic acidosis is corrected, increases can unintentionally occur in plasma sodium concentrations. This occurs because sodium bicarbonate is hypertonic. Storage Recommendations: Store in a cool, dry place between 59 and 86 degrees F (15-30 degrees C). In Case of Overdose: Contact the nearest emergency pet clinic immediately. Active Ingredients: Sodium Bicarbonate 84mg, (equal to 1 mEq/mL) Main Ingredients: Each mL contains 84 mg Sodium Bicarbonate. Also contains water for injection.
